The collection contains items primarily from the period of the middle of the 19th century up to the present and mostly come from the Přerov region, that is the town of Přerov and the Přerov district, as well as from the close vicinity of the neighbouring districts. 

The collection includes items recalling important events in the region, invitations and supplementary materials for events at the Comenius Museum in Přerov as well as selected political, cultural, business and sporting events in the town and its vicinity, postcards of the town and its surroundings, examples of the main types of identification cards, membership cards and other documents, declarations and testimonials used over the course of the 20th century, personal diaries and notebooks, biographies and examples of the period press or materials and documents from the activities of institutions and associations on both the local and district level. Of particular interest are, for example, the collection of memoirs of direct participants in the events of the founding of Czechoslovakia in Přerov as well as the more or less complete collection of diaries of the historian Florian Zapletal. 

As of December 2015, the collection contained 10,770 recorded items (registration numbers) in all. It continues to be expanded with the accumulating of documentation of the activities of local institutions and associations. 

The collection is administered by Mgr. Šárka Krákorová-Pajůrková (Social Sciences Department).
